Humility & Obedience

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.1 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

--Philippians 2:5-11

Humility and obedience must bring glory to God the Father.

The whole point o purpose of being humble and obedient is to bring glory to God the Father.
One must become humble and obedient with only one view or intention – the active intention of exalting glorifying our Father in heaven. If humility or obedience springs from a felt or perceived need for it, from unhealthy fear (of God or men) or pressure, or for self-justification, or any other reason, then one has missed the point.


True humility comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, and serving Him in the guidance or direction of the Holy Spirit. Humility that springs forth or is rooted in one’s love for Jesus Christ, is that which seeks actively to glorify God the Father.

Obedience leads to our working out our own salvation. Obedience leads to working with God the Father to know & do His will – done with fear and trembling [humility, carefully, alertness, under unction of Holy Spirit].


When we obey, God the Father enables us to will [as per His will] and do [as per His will] for His pleasure. Murmuring and disputing makes one blamed and is harmful, by way of words.


Obedience makes us children of God – light in darkness.
Obedience involves holding fast to the Word of Life.

Perfect love casts out fear

I've learnt something about love. Love does not cause us to be weak. It makes us strong. The perfect love of the Father God makes us strong. It brings us life, joy and strength. When we love others with that love, we are strengthened within ourselves. The Word of God says - I do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Problems and disagreements may arise. People are not perfect. Not even that someone special in one's life. But love overlooks. Love conquers the imperfections. No love is not blind. But love is light. When one looks at another under the perfect light of love, all things fall into the perfect perspective. Wrongs are covered, forgiven, and forgotten. Love makes it easy to forgive. Love makes it easy to move on. Love makes everything clear. Decisions come easy, and one is confident that they did right. Misery Conquered!!

Catch 'em Unawares!! Misery closes our minds, blinds us and deafens our ears with too much noise in our heads. It is especially capable, with these tools, to eventually shut the door of our hearts. Here's a neat technique: Go into a quiet room with Misery and lock yourself in with it. Then, with no prior warning, drop on your knees and call upon the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our Beloved. He'll come. (obviously!) Then, introduce Misery to Jesus Christ. Let Jesus deal with Misery. Now, for the very important part - you just need to sit back and rest Your Lord Jesus Christ does not need any help dealing with anything, but He sure appreciates you singing some praises. Believe me, your singing praises can distract even your worst enemy from doing his job. The accusator would have just one cause against you - that you sprang a stronger Ally on him and when he was only trying to fight and do his job, your singing distracted him.
