Giver, not the Gift

There are those of us who pray endlessly for their hopes to be met. But, I questioned the Lord, - What does one do when one gets all that one desired or hoped for, but is still dissatisfied and unfulfilled. There is still emptiness; what is that? A few nights later, He replied. ‘For your answer, trace back your steps. You attached your happiness to things that have nothing of Me, except that I gave them to you. You thought if you had those things, you'd be happy. Your joy comes from Me. You attached yourself to blessings rather than the One who blesses you. Retrace your steps to where you met Jesus. Did you follow Him because He carried the cross for you, shed His blood for you, and gave His life and Spirit for you? Or did you follow Him because He blesses you with the desires of your heart? Search your heart. It is not wrong to desire. Father God is overjoyed when you desire things of Him, and it pleases Him to give them to you. But, it would be a poor repayment to know Him or vis

You have a Gauge

God is truth, and so is simple. For it’s the lies and deceit that are complex. Whenever you feel your life getting complex or confusing, use it to gauge your distance from the Lord. Life’s complexities or its simplicity are a meter to check our closeness to Him. When we are close, His light dispels our darkness. If you can’t see much ahead of you (very normal for a child of God), and it scares you, it may be because you’re standing with your back to the light. If all you can see is shadows, then the light must be right behind you. Just turn around and you will know that your Shepherd is right there. A Shepherd walks in front of His sheep. Just turn from your confusion and follow Him. Turn from what you’re doing and where you are at, and you’ll find Jesus waiting for you. His truth and revelation dispel our lies. He is gracious to let our deceit come to the fore to give us a chance at repentance and forgiveness. He has the lamp and He willingly shows the way.

17/10/09 Today, I asked the Lord, how I was supposed to deal with a need in the absence of what I needed. The answer came in all too quickly (before I could complete my question) - "With Patience and Self-control." Yeah, I should've seen that coming. Walked right into it!

Eating my Manna

What comes from God to you, is first for you, then for the church. What comes from the church to you, is first for God and then for you. It is a strange phenomenon. When Father God first taught it to me, He was merely teaching me to listen to what He told me. Then, as a next step, He gave me an opportunity to experience what He told me and enabled a better understanding. Finally, He took me to a situation where I found someone else in a similar situation and I could share what He taught me and my experience. It made more sense to the hearer. Neat little trick! He taught me the principle itself after He'd, so to say, shown it to me. It's been a really cool lesson. At times, when we receive a word from God, be it an encouragement, a teaching, or a warning (etc.), we tend to locate potential targets where we can dissipate this information. If it's an encouragement, we like to receive it well and share with others when trying to encourage them. If it's a teaching, we like t
