Morning Lessons

8:50 AM 2/5/2010 As I drove to work this morning, for some reason (I do not know what), it 'came' to me that - 'Let's try to be patient today.' Generally, when I drive I keep to myself as a driver and do not overtake for the sake of overtaking or ambush other cars to prove a point. This means that sometimes I do behave in this manner. Those times I justify the situation with phrases as 'sheesh! Unpredictable driver! i must get ahead of him!', 'Dear! this one just does not want to drive.', 'Just what do they think they're doing! I'll show 'em!'... Well, as I was saying, it 'came' to me - 'Let's try to be patient today.' Now this thought has 'come' to me several times before, but I've always managed to overtake it. Today, for some reason (I do not know what) the thought managed to stick its heels in and refused to budge. The moment I gave in was a crucial one. In that very moment, a man who was alread

If a good thing is done, it is equally important that it be done with right intentions and motivation. A good thing done with the wrong motivation leads to despair. If the motivation to do something good comes from the flesh, the good thing will never flourish and would not be persevered by the doer. If the motivation comes from the Holy Spirit, the good thing will flourish and can be persevered by the doer, for the Spirit strengthens the doer. It is the nature and character of the Holy Spirit to complete what He starts; this is not the property of the flesh. Flesh is weak and is easily broken; Spirit is strong, and tarries. Whatever you do, do it for the glory of the Father God. If the aim is not His glorification, then it is not worth doing. If the motivation is to escape, avoid, obtain personal pleasures, polish ego, or justify self, then the decision is evil and will not be blessed of God. If, inspite of troubled surroundings and repeated prayers, things do not change, then perhaps it is the will of God for things to be how they are. In between all the ugliness, God has surely hidden something of great beauty. Do not be concerned with the ugliness; strive to uncover the beauty that lies within. He alone is the One who can bring out good from all things for those who love Him and are according to His will.
