The Small Door

There was a certain man, who had traveled through his life building it himself, as he called it. The core of every decision he made and everything he did was the achievement of his goals and the fame, riches, popularity, respect, status thereof. Like with everyone else, some of his decisions worked to his benefit, and some others did not. That is when he would try every trick in the trade to gain his dream - a life he built on his terms. When he succeeded, he considered it a wise move to have handled things as well as he did. He would imagine himself to have pushed till the road-block was moved by his own strength and might. As with everything in this world, his enterprise reached a peak and then begun its descent. His wisdom misdirected him, his strength failed him, and his tricks did not work. He even attempted tricks he'd never tried before, but the dying can scarcely be revived by human effort. Though he did not give up easily and fought on every step and every side, failure ga

In this Likeness of Christ

Sometimes, we pray things that we do not understand. Some other times, we pray things that we think we understand. Everyday I prayed that the Lord, through His Holy Spirit, would make me more and more into the likeness of Christ. After all, I've heard it said several times that Jesus is the standard for us; that we must be like Him, or atleast strive to be like Him. I think I may have said it one too many times, so the Lord God decided to clarify the understanding. "If I wanted to make duplicates of Jesus, I would've made them. Jesus is who He is because He obeyed Me - He became what I wanted Him to be. Being in His likeness means that you be what I want to be. If I wanted you to be a copy of Jesus, why would I make you unique? Just like everyone else? I've made you all unique because I want each of you as I want you to be. You all have a personality and a function in the body of Christ like no one else. Even Jesus said that you'll do greater things than Him. Being

Lo and Behold

lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matt. 28:20 The last words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Matthew before He ascended to Heaven. I always thought that the crux lay in the portion after the comma - 'I'm with you till the end of the world'. Recently, Jesus opened my eyes to the word I'd missed in giving importance. 'Lo' - The Mirriam Webster dictionary states that this is an interjection that is used to express wonder or surprise. Why would I be surprised when He's said that He'd be with me forever? It seems I would be. He says so. and He is right. Every time He turns up, He surprises me. In situations where I feel He isn't even looking my way, leave alone doing something, He surprises me by showing that He's not only there but actively participating and controlling things for me. When I'm down and upset, He surprises me with a small word, or a secret I didn't know, or a story that He builds for me. Whe

Apology and Forgiveness

And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Luke 11:4 As I sat down to pray last night, I repeated the words of my daily prayer - Lord, forgive my sins. A gleam of light from the Father God fell on these words and He gave me understanding. "When you say 'forgive my sins', you talk in a generalized manner. You are not even fully aware of all the sins you've committed. It is not until My Holy Spirit brings the sin up in your heart, that you become aware of what I would call a sin. It is then, if you do not argue your justification for what you said, thought or did, and accept the conviction, that you really confess. It is then, if you agree with My Holy Spirit that He is right for He is true and you are wrong because you are not, even if you do not fully understand, that you truly seek forgiveness. But do not think that you should not pray thus. When you say, 'forgive my sins', it tells me that you are willing to confess and seek
