God-sent calamity? No, tender mercy drops
There are times when, one way or another, the enemy of our soul enters our life and starts his work of constant destruction.
Our perception of his presence may not occur till he has successfully erected the tools of destruction in our lives - small lies, small wrong decisions showing patterns of priority changes, bad habits, unhealthy company, laziness showing an unwillingness to leave comfort zone to take up the cross, impatience, deceit, pride, etc.,- are small unwise beginnings that lead to that great chasm of death.
The LORD sends us protection and His wingspan is all-sufficient for keeping us covered. However, with little coaxing of the enemy - that luring, tempting voice in Eden still follows us - we give up the blessing of His protection and follow our own vile heart and desires.
Yet, the merciful LORD does not lead an angry army against us. He sees that we are only dust. It is our own vile choices that open our doors to the enemy's stealthy trojan horse which works against us while we play and sleep. Once inside, he doesn't waste time in niceties, but brings on a deluge of full-fledged war to destroy.
Yet, the LORD is merciful.
The LORD knows our enemy and does not destroy us in His wrath. It is His command and will that we war not against flesh and blood but principalities.
Tender loving precious merciful Father does not send us judgment that we so rightfully deserve.
He merely holds back some blessings of heaven. But never, never does He intend it to make us payback - for He has paid back our unrighteousness with His righteousness. No! The loving Father does not let us continue in sin. He holds back the fruit of life till He has saved us from the clutches of our disobediant nature - He does not allow us to eat the fruit of life after sinning and be onward to eternal death. Praises be to our heavenly Father for not letting us continue a life of comforts and luxuries when we have an enemy in the house who would rob us of all.
He holds back some blessings - but never the blessing of true repentance, of return to the LORD, of prayer and of His mighty presence. Not having our comforts is trouble enough for us. Some of us may complain, some be depressed, and some rebel further.
Some return to the joy of our salvation singing praises and thanksgiving. This is exactly the purpose of holding back those few blessings. The LORD does not send trouble upon His children, He holds back the goodies till we come home and promise to be good.
The enemy does not loose any chances of destroying us. When he sees blessings withheld from us, he does not miss telling us that God the Righteous and Just will be disappointed in us and would never accept. The old fool does not know the power of a Father's chastisement sent in exceeding love to His children.
Never ever, my heart, misjudge and doubt your Father love because of chastisement. He chastises much for He loves much. Remember, instead of having you destroyed, He'd rather nail Himself to the cross.
Imagine yourself walking to an open chasm wider and deeper as eternal death, when a small stone strikes your toe and you stumble to see the death before your eyes. Would you not, my soul, bless the stone for breaking that eternal fall and keeping you on the Rock?
Then, go on and bless the LORD JESUS CHRIST and thank His holy work that He has wrought for you.
